Hello. I am Hugh William Dichmont, and I am a tiny writer, as illustrated by the actual-size photograph to my right, your left. I write sometimes dark, often surreal, funny-sad scripts for TV, film and theatre.
In 2024, I was a finalist for the Channel 4 New Writers scheme. In 2022, my play Who You Are and What You Do won the Bread & Roses Playwriting Award. "An intriguing world of revelations and horrors, paired with moments of hilarity... it leaves you breathless" (Everything Theatre) My ★★★★★ (iTunes) podcast, The Future History of the British Isles, was reviewed by listeners as "funny and surreal", "fast-moving, weird", and "exposing the cracks of our current political and ideological crisis". Wow, I like that quote. I should put it on my website. My one man stageshow about depression, The War On Terry, was listed by FringeReview as one of their "Top Ten Plays Not to Miss". Before writing, I had a career as a visual artist, as part of rambunctious artist collective Tether, making collaborative installations and performance events, including a Disco Toilet, which I still miss a bit, but I rent a flat, so that's not really feasible, is it |
